Load and Load Forecast
Peak hourly load yesterday was 76,239 MW, 1.7% higher than yesterday’s forecast of 74,900 MW. Peak load was just above the upper band of the trailing 5-year maximum load range (evening peak). The daily minimum load (morning) was above the top of the 5-year minimum load range. (The ranges average over 5 years and one week either side.)
The average daily load for yesterday was 63,390 MW. Yesterday’s estimate for yesterday’s load was 62,190 MW. See the table below for the forward daily estimates.
ERCOT’s peak load forecast for today is 78,800 MW. The forecast for tomorrow is low at 79,300 MW. Record load is 85,464 MW from 10-Aug-2023.
For weekly averages this week ending this morning Friday 06-Jun 15Z, the average power is estimated to be 60.38 GW, up 0.27 GW from yesterday’s estimate. The verification for last week ending last Friday 30-May 15Z was 59.65 GW and 60.80 GW the week before.
Weather
The Dallas area are moving higher over the weekend followed by cooler temperatures with the arrival of the next extended rain event.
Houston and the Coast Zone are also moving higher but do not move as low as North Texas next week.
Today, NOAA’s 7-Day QPF shows a very wet pattern with most of the rain coming Days 3-7.
